Question by kar: does someone know of an exercise video that I can purchase to keep fit even though I have a bad knee?
I am 67, 155 lbs, and would like to purchase an exercise video to keep fit. I have a bad knee, so it would have to be one that would be kind to the knees. I am finding that I cannot button up shorts that I never had trouble buttoning before. Can`t afford a new wardrobe!!! Help!! Thanks in advance.
Answer by Dragonfly Walk Away the pounds is a good video, I do it when my knee is giving me fits (I injured one skiing post op after a soccer accident and the other has had ACL reconstruction) on any of the movements that hurt, just march through them, it will work wonders especially once you start working up the muscles around the knee and you can do more.

Hi, I had total hip replacement 2 years ago, and would like to find a good video that will help strengthen all of the muscles of the body without having to get on the floor, and that is not arobic or too strinuous. I know water exercises are good, but I would like to exercise with a video. Thanks
Answer by Kraftee I’ve had both hips replaced in separate surgeries. Once I had rehabbed the hips and had completed physical therapy, I began a routine using an elliptical trainer (low impact and helps build endurance which I needed after so many years with bad hips), stationary bicycle (road bicycling would be a good substitute), recumbent stepper, and a continuation of some of my PT exercises along with daily walking outside (or on a treadmill when the weather didn’t permit outside walks). Most of these I did 3xper week except I did the walking every day. The key is low-impact – no jogging or running. I did some of my PT exercises lying down but instead of lying on the floor (too hard to get down and back up) I did them on the bed at the fitness center.
I don’t know of any video that has a program of exercises just for people with hip replacements. As you search, keep an eye out for routines that involve too much impact or that would cause you to violate whatever precautions have been prescribed by your doctor for the long term. I no longer have the flexibility that I had before my hips went bad – but then I’m also 20 years older! I don’t think very many of the canned video programs will totally meet your exercise needs. They are more for people who don’t have complicated orthopedic problems.

I would like to purchase an exercise video to do while standing. I would like to exercise all muscles etc; without getting on the floor. I am active and not overweight, but have a hard time getting up and down from the floor. I am looking for a video that is just a basic exercise routine, that will help me to stay fit. Thanks
